Results are certified. Now what?

Earlier this week the Secretary of State certified all of our state’s election results. Washington voter turnout was 84.1%, and in the 36th legislative district, it was a whopping 91.13% — wow!

In less than six weeks, I will be sworn in as the 38th person to hold this office (the 36th district was formed in 1891). This would not be possible without your unwavering support.

The work as State Representative-Elect has already begun. Our days have been filled with virtual trainings and meetings to prepare before the session officially begins in January.

For now, all legislative business will take place remotely. It will be strange not meeting new colleagues and citizen advocates face to face, but we are working to make your government as accessible as ever. Committees will be assigned next week which will guide priority issues and legislation. More on that soon.

I am also pleased to announce that our campaign manager Emma Spickard will serve as Legislative Assistant in our office. Emma proved herself an invaluable asset and I know she will do the same for our community in Olympia.

I look forward to celebrating our official swearing in with you on January 11, 2021! We’ll be sure to keep you posted on all the details.
